Summer Camp release + show + video

Summer Camp will release first single “Ghost Train” next week (April 12th) on Moshi Moshi. The single will be limited edition 7″ and you can get more details on how to pre-order/buy that bad boy here. My guess is that it will sell out sooner rather than later, so get to it!

Though the band made their live debut earlier last month after their identities were revealed, they will play their first “official” show at the Lexington this Thursday April 8th to coincide with the release. GO! And take some video clips, mkay? If you can’t make it out this Thursday night, you’ll have a chance to catch them live June 1st at London’s KOKO where they’ll be supporting Slow Club. So, GO!

Apologies Schmapologies

I’ve been a terrible blogger lately, I know. As the end of my academic career looms near, there’s been a never ending stream of research and paper writing piled on top of various internship responsibilities that have rendered me incapable of maintaining a life outside the “real world”. In other words, I’ve had no time for the internet. Bummer, I know.

Sometime in the midst of all the work, I managed to unwind and write a review for Blood Red Shoes’ latest, Fire Like This, but in my tired, sleepy haze I accidentally pressed ‘no’ when Microsoft Word prompted me to save “Untitled Document [5]“. It was probably a terribly written piece anyway.

So readers, whoever you may be, I apologize for the lack of communication and I promise my pointless-though- sometimes-slightly-amusing posts will return pronto. For now, stare at this animation and smile:

Vampire Weekend

Seriously?

Why?

I honestly don’t get it.* And I hate that now whenever I think of horchata (mmm), I will undoubtedly think of these punks.

The only way I can handle them:

*can also be applied to Marina and the Diamonds

New year, new look.

That’s right, I’ve changed the look and feel of You Don’t Spell It.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my old layout quite a bit– it was simple, had a fresh look, AND a green color scheme, but it was time for a change. Ideally I would have loved to simply tweak a few things on the old layout, but WordPress doesn’t allow CSS customization unless you upgrade*. Major bummer. So, we’ll roll with this for now. Though only time will tell for how long. I miss the jello.

My “albums of the year” post is coming later today.

*If you would like to buy me this upgrade, I would love you forever <3
