GENERATIONALS 3D EXPERIENCE TOUR 2011

Generationals are doing a couple shows around the Midwest in January, including a date for Chicago’s TOMORROW NEVER KNOWS series at Schubas on January 12th (with Magic Kids, Pet Lions, and In Tall Buildings). I am rearranging some things to try and be there and so should you!

Check out this snazzy tour poster created by Scott Campbell

I want one! And if you haven’t already, buy their latest EP Trust for only $2.99. That’s not a bargain, that’s a steal!

AND SO IT BEGINS….SXSW 2011

If you’ve got frequent flyer miles saved up and about $1000 disposable cash, you a) are one lucky son of a gun and b) should start thinking about buying your badge for SXSW 2011. The music festival will take place March 16-20 and the first round of bands have already been announced, check out the full list or some highlights below:

Bombay Bicycle Club
Frankie and the Heartstrings
Marcus Foster
Veronica Falls
Yuck

I’m sure that a whole slew of other bands I would really, really love to see will get added soon enough, that’s how it always goes. However, I’m realizing that with every passing year I care less and less about not being able to go to SXSW. Not exactly the setting I’d love to see these bands in, you know? However, if anyone’s got an extra pass to the Interactive conference, I would love you forever if you hooked a sister up! ;)

SWEETEST BAND EVER MAKES NEW VIDEO

Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin have released a new video for “Sink/Let It Sway,” a song given away as a free download earlier this year in the lead up to the release of their 3rd LP Let It Sway.

The band describe the video as “Die Hard 3 meets Point Break meets Lethal Weapon 2 meets True Lies” and that pretty much hits the nail on the head. WATCH NOW! Honestly, how could you not want to watch with a description like that??

They also recorded a session with THEY SHOOT MUSIC in Vienna recently while on their European tour. Watch them perform “All Hail Dracula!” in an Austrian park surrounded by the most obnoxious kids ever and admire their patience and incredible ability to remain THE NICEST PEOPLE EVER. Incredible.

SSLYBY are currently back in the States with The Lonely Forest. Sadly they’re not hitting up Chicago this time around, but take a gander at the dates and run out to a show if they’re coming to your town!

CUT COPY REVEAL COVER ART, HEADS EXPLODE.

Explode from pure anticipation from the EPIC EPICNESS that the band’s third LP will no doubt bring.

CUT COPY. ZONOSCOPE. FEBRUARY 8th 2011.

The cover art is the work of late Japanese photo montage artist Tsunehisa Kimura and totally reminds me of that scene in “The Abyss” with the crazy tidal wave. As if the album title and art weren’t enough to build some crazy intrigue and anticipation in us fans, the band have also released the second installment of the Krozm documentary about the making of Zonoscope. As always, you can watch below. Brace yourself for some intense Dan-screaming-into-guitar-pickup-and-getting-amazing-feedback moments.

For all the folks who can’t make it, turn those frowns upside down! Pitchfork will be streaming the festival online at http://www.pitchforkmusicfestival.com/media.php starting Friday. You too will be able to enjoy the likes of LCD Soundsystem, Pavement, Modest Mouse, Lightning Bolt, and more!
