Have a listen: Generationals
This past week all around the world (read: Chicago), universities (read: Loyola) opened their doors and welcomed a new slew of doe-eyed freshmen naive enough to believe their majors (read: Philosophy with a minor in Women’s Studies) were a wise choice considering today’s economy (read: you’re more screwed than I am).
For me, this past week meant waking up early (read: the ass crack of dawn) for 8am classes, one too many rounds of let’s-get-to-know-each-other games (read: making up “interesting” facts about myself), and becoming acclimated with my new Edgewater (read: Assault Ave.) surroundings.
Luckily through all the crazy first-days-of-class commotion, I had Agamemnon (read: my trusty Zune) to keep me sane with bitchin’ tunes. Amongst these bitchin’ tunes were the Generationals (read: remember The Eames Era?) and their latest album (read: first and only so far) Con Law. Although I’ve been listening to the album pretty heavily since it’s release in July, Con Law‘s bubbly, sunshine sounds were perfect for the countless walks and bus rides to and from class this last week. It’s hard not being in a good mood while listening to Generationals, even when it’s 8am and you’d rather be sleeping than walking to class before the sun’s even up. They’re just so happy (read: not in an annoying Matt & Kim kind of way).
hot sauce.
I need Whirlwind Heat back in my life like a crack head needs another hit. Sweet jesus.
ps. the title of this post = my favorite part of the video. hot sauce.

Mumford & Sons make a video
This year’s music blog darlings Mumford & Sons have made a video for “Little Lion Man”, their new single out on September 28th. Check it:
Everyone and their mothers seems to be anticipating their debut album Sigh No More (out October 5th) and with good reason. If you’ve seen them live, you know what I’m talking about.
GOOD SHOES are back! GOOD SHOES are back!!

In case you didn’t catch it from the subject, Good Shoes are baaaaaaaaaaack! The band have been away writing and recording their second album, but they’ve finally emerged with a taste of what’s to come via a free download of “The Way My Heart Beats”.
FREE DOWNLOAD “The Way My Heart Beats” from their official website or get it here
It’s reassuring that they still sound like the same band I fell in love with almost three years ago, but they’ve kicked it up a notch. Some things have changed, however, and that’s the lineup. Earlier this year, bassist Joel Cox left and was replaced by Bob Matthews (hence that unfamiliar face in the fourth polaroid above!). Perhaps it’s his voice I hear accompanying Rhys on “The Way My Heart Beats”? (Also, when the song begins, is anyone else reminded of “Don’t Look Back Into the Sun” just a teeny tiny bit? Am I crazy?)
Download their new song, listen to it on repeat, and go out and show your support on any of the 298739802 shows they’ll be playing around the UK this winter:
