GoodBooks are no more

It’s been almost two weeks since the band announced their end, but it’s only now clicked in my mind that GoodBooks really are over. It’s always sad to see the end of a band you love, especially when you don’t see it coming. After all, they were recording a new album. But alas, what can you do?

I have to admit that it’s been a long time since I last listened to GoodBooks, but that’s not to say that I have grown to love their music any less. I can still remember the first time I heard those opening notes to “Passchendaele” and knew it was love. (I’ve always been a sucker for synths.) Luckily, the end of a band doesn’t mean the end of the music or the memories.

One of my favorite b-sides: Like Humphrey Bogart (mediafire)

On a personal note, GoodBooks will always remind me of someone who I haven’t been lucky enough to meet, but who I consider quite a wonderful friend nonetheless.

It’s so surreal, I’d left them a comment saying they needed to tour again soon a week previous to the news.
I hadn’t listened to them in what felt like aeons but thenI listened to “Control” a couple of days after and although they’re over it’s always going to be a part of me.
