They’ve been a part of my life for the last eleven years and I wouldn’t have it any other way. The venues are too big for my liking and support comes from Paramore. Needless to say, it’s going to be torture, but my goodness it is going to be worth it. I would stand through a five hour Slipknot set while having sharp objects thrown at me if there was a promised 3-minute No Doubt set at the end of it all. Love, dudes. True love.
Kanye loves The Maccabees
Even the “voice of this generation” himself, Mr. Kanye West, is blogging about The Maccabees. Well, if you call posting their new video for “No Kind Words” on his official blog without actually saying anything about the video or song “blogging”.
Either way, it’s pretty cool. Check it out.
You can never go wrong with some Maccabees lovin’.

Felix has also taken some time to write a letter to Drowned in Sound about the new record, “Wall of Arms”:
When I wasn’t in a band, I used to always accuse groups of being lazy when they took two years to make an album, but when you are doing it yourself you want to put out something that represents you at your best. Now we have a little bit of experience of being in a band – writing, recording, touring and all the stuff that comes with it – we’ve come to realise that if you are not proud of what you do and really love it, then it isn’t really worth doing. There’s no point in touring a record you don’t like.
Did your love for The Maccabees just multiply by infinity? I know mine did. Read the rest of Felix’s letter here at DiS.
Don’t forget you can still get a free download over at their official site and catch them live in March!!

You have to respect a man who, without sounding cliché, writes the words “if he breaks your heart, I will break his legs” and delivers them with the utmost sincerity.

I will be at the Empty Bottle show on the 25th (say hello if you’re around!). It’s a rare opportunity to see these boys live in our neck of the woods, so do yourself a favor and catch them if they’re coming to a town near you. After generously adding a last-minute all-ages show at the AV-Aerie in Chicago last year, I was able to enjoy the live experience that is Noah and the Whale. Yeah, it’s an experience. If you’re not sure whether to travel from afar, just do it. I promise you won’t regret it. You can check out a clip of “Mary” from their instore performance at Reckless Records (1532 N Wilwaukee Ave) right here.
For you UK fans, don’t forget their Club Silencio tour begins in March and there’s still time to enter their film competition!

The Maccabees “No Kind Words” video

The Maccabees released the official video for “No Kind Words” today, featuring Mat Horne and Matthew Baynton of “Gavin & Stacey“.
One week ago, the band offered “No Kind Words” for free download on their official website. The release of the video also comes with news of a May 2009 release for their second album “Wall of Arms”. I know I’m not alone when I say this is very exciting news.
Before they begin their March/May tour around the UK, the boys are playing a couple club shows at the end of this month. Some tickets still available, get them while you can!
